PRE-BUFFALO/THE EARLY 80'S
Pre the formation of Buffalo, I started out shooting all the wild and wonderful characters that hung out on the streets at the clubs I went to. At that time there was no ‘fashion’ scene. The fashion establishment was Vogue and was run by privileged girls, with no idea about style. There was still a big underground scene where everything else was happening. I was still only a photographic assistant and just freely capturing what I saw around me. This selection of images shot in the early 80’s shows some of what was happening at the time. In those days you could do anything you wanted to. If you had a cool look and could write a few songs, you could get a record deal and that’s what everyone did. Tasty Tim, Boy George and Annie Lenox, Marilyn, ABC, Simple Minds, Hasey Fantasy, Steve Strange, Jeremy Healey, Spandau Ballet, and my band Morgan/McVey. Make your own cloths, make your own music, make your own clubs, everything was wide open and we were all just creating our own worlds.
